The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) has been constituted in the college for the sexual harassment of women at the workplace (prevention, prohibition, and redressal) is headed by a senior female faculty of the institute. ICC meets on a need basis to address any complaints from students, teaching and nonteaching members and takes necessary action. The College has a zero-tolerance policy towards any such transgression. The college is committed to providing a safe and conducive work and academic environment to students and its employees and is extremely alert to matters pertaining to any kind of harassment and gender sensitivity. Posters are displayed at strategic places within the campus to communicate the philosophy of institute in such matters.

Registration of Complaints:

  1. Despite the preventive efforts made by the committee, any incidents of sexual harassment should take place; registration of complaints shall follow the following procedures
  2. As far as possible attempt should be made to explore whether mediation or conciliation can provide a suitable solution to the case. This should be desirable in so far it can spare trauma of formal procedure for both the complaint and the accused.
  3. A complaint should be lodged within four weeks of the In extraordinary circumstances this could be extended to four months.
  4. The committee shall study the complaint and may hear both the complainant and the accused and other involved parties to determine if an enquiry should be If so then an enquiry committee will be formed

from the committee consisting of not less than 3 persons or not more than 5 persons. 50% of this committee will be women.

  1. Complaints can be lodged directly with any member of the committee. The person to whom the compliant is made should bring to the notice of the committee within 2 working days of receiving it.
  2. The process shall be complainant friendly and quick in its decision regarding whether the matter needs to be enquired into or can be taken care of by counselling or mediation.
  3. At no time in the complaints receiving or recording procedure the past sexual history of the complainant is probed into.
  4. The enquiry committee shall complete the enquiry in the shortest possible time not exceeding 3 months from the date of complaint.
  5. The enquiry committee shall provide reasonable opportunity to the complainant and the accused for presenting/ defending their case.
  6. The enquiry committee shall then submit a detailed report to the main committee in which it shall communicate its findings based on its investigation.
  7. The complaint may be oral or in writing, if the complaint is oral it shall be reduced in writing by the committee or the member who has received the complaint with the signature of the complainant.
  8. The main committee along with the enquiry committee will then forward its findings and recommendations to the management for further action.
  9. The complainant may withdraw his/her complaint in writing at any time while receiving during/enquiry procedure. In such case the procedure shall be terminated. If the committee feels or has enough reason to believe that the withdrawal is the consequence or effect of cohesion/ intimidation/ threat exerted by the accused or any person on his/her behalf the enquiry proceedings shall continue.

GRIEVANCE REDERSSAL MECHANISM

Policy

All students in our collage are treated equally by faculty members and staff irrespective of their gender and social status. Freedom and easy access to the senior management on any kind of grievances to be redressed, and to provide a mechanism to students and stakeholders for Redressal of their grievances.

Grievances of stockholders are collected by following ways:

  • Primarily, the students can meet any of the members of the Grievance Redressal Committee either in person or on their mobile number or write to https://www.synacollege.com/grievance-redressal-form/providing complete details of their grievances along with their details. The grievances collected through the members are routed/discussed with the concerned authorities and resolved.
  • Efforts are put in to resolve the reported grievances as quickly as possible, within a maximum time of 7 days, based on the severity of the grievance expressed.
  • The Grievance Redressal Committee meets in a semester to review the status of grievances received and their resolution status.

Grievances are broadly classified as given below:

  • Complaints about academic, Hostel, Mess, Transport, Sports, other
  • Complaints regarding discrimination by students from scheduled caste/scheduled tribes/ OBC/Women/Minority or disabled categories.
  • Non-provision of student amenities that have been committed .
  • Non-transparent or unfair evaluation practices .
  • Harassment or victimization of students .
  • Gender bias , social discrimination, unfair practices and human rights

Mechanisms for Redressal of grievances with reference to evaluation of answer papers

The mechanism adopted by the institution to address the grievances with reference to evaluation both at the college and university level is detailed below:

  • The internal corrected test paper is distributed within three days of the examination
  • All the grievances regarding evaluation, including the internal assessment marks awarded for the students, is redressed by Heads of Departments.
  • RGPV University has specified procedure to handle grievance in final examination marks. There is a provision for revaluation of the answer scripts as well as supplying photo copies of the evaluated answer scripts.
  • On the recommendations and review of HOD and Principal, the answer scripts of University examinations are revalued by the University.
  • In case, the student is not satisfied with the outcome of the revaluation or the marks obtained by him, university has a provision to go in for a CHALLENGE procedure.
  • The students ‟ grievances, if anything , regarding the university examinations, are communicated to the controller of examination,RGPV University by the Principal.

The member shall hold the office for a period of two years. The GRC shall meet as and when requires and assess the merit of the complaint. The decision of the GRC will be intimated to the complainant through email/sms/hosted in the website. In case of any false/frivolous complaint, the GRC will take appropriate action against the complainant.

ANTI –RAGGING COMMITTEE:

Ragging in any form, at any place or time is a cognizable offence that will attract severe Punishment including summary expulsion from the Institution. If any student is found to be Involved in any sort of ragging or harassment with juniors or other fellow students, inside or Outside the campus, bus, hostel, he/she will be dismissed immediately from the institution and Criminal action will be taken against them as per MADHYA PRADESH PROHIBITION OF RAGGING ACT 2019 and UGC guidelines.

COMPOSITION OF THE ANTI –RAGGING COMMITTEE

The Institution has formed an Anti-Ragging committee with the Principal as the chairman. This Committee effectively controls Ragging, which is violation against the fundamental human rights and human values. At the commencement of the academic Session, the chairman shall Convene and address a meeting of various functionaries like representatives of students, Parents/guardians, faculty and district administration including police to discuss the measures to be taken to prevent ragging in the institution.
